Youth for Accelerating Better Ghana Agenda (YABGA has congratulated B. T. Baba for emerging victorious in the Talensi By-election.

In a press statement issued, the group noted that? his resounding victory sends signals to the good people of Ghana that H.E John Mahama is tirelessly working even as his detractors fight against his efforts.

Today, the group said, the hard work of the NDC has resonated and that Victory has embraced the NDC.

“YABGA, has however realised, that, HON BT Baba is one who is committed and dedicated his life to the service of mother Ghana.”

YABGA wishes to take this opportunity in wishing the Member of Parliament for Talensi, Hon. BT Baba on his election victory and swearing in . Such a resounding victory sends signals to the good people of this country that H.E John Mahama is tirelessly working even as his detractors fight against his efforts. In 2012, during the campaign period, H.E John Dramani Mahama gave out his words. He said he was going to work for the Ghanaian people; he has truly kept his words.

Today, the hard work of the NDC has resonated. Victory has embraced the NDC. YABGA, has however realised, that, HON BT Baba is one who is committed and dedicated his life to the service of mother Ghana. In his days of active public service, he served well and many admired him. It is not surprising to see this noble personality win the seat which was wrestled away from us by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). This gain, our gain, will help strengthen the party and build us for the future ahead.

YABGA, which stands for Youth for Accelerating Better Ghana Agenda, is a Pro-NDC group in Damongo. We solely believe in the hard work of our party. God has always showed us favour. We wish to commend the efforts of the president and his vice for their charismatic flair which characterises the whole electoral process. The ? battle was indeed the Lord?s?. We cannot forget our able executives. They were deep and precise even on field as they campaigned so hard for our candidate. We appreciate the likes of Kofi Poturphy, Asiedu Nketia, Kofi Adams, Sidii Abubakar, Madam Hajia Zainabu and a host of others. We thank our MP?s and DCEs from various constituencies and District Assemblies respectively for their hard work and diligence.

The people of Talensi were unwavering in their support for the party. We are thankful to them. In this election, we learnt lessons. Many were times the NPP threw tantrums and aspersions at the president and his government. Be it in demonstrations, press conferences all to paint a doom picture of the Mahama government. But all to no avail. Their actions proved futile, because the government was truly working for the people. The reason for our victory was solely on hard work. It was solely on keeping touch with the grass root. It was solely on keeping faith with our campaign promises.
We remain resolute, that come 2016, we shall triumph over the hurdles and darker days. We shall surely get out of the doldrums. We shall remain the party we were made to be. We shall lead and continue to lead. So let?s put our shoulders to the wheel, together we can consolidate our gains, cross the river Jordan and get to the promise land in our pursuit to build a better Ghana.

B.T. Baba charts path for Employment & Development

Hon. Benson Tongo Baba, MP for Talensi

Hon. Benson Tongo Baba, Member of Parliament (MP) for Talensi in the Upper East Region  has taken the bold initiative to chart the path of employment and development to the benefit of all in the constituency.

After procuring 86 water pumping machines, of which 36 had been distributed to support dry season farming, the MP is appealing to the Minister Roads and Highways to come to the aid of the people to improve the road network to make the area more accessible.

Of particular concern to the MP is the Zuarungu-Kpatia- Sheaga stretch of road, which he said the culverts had caved in and needs urgent attention.

Hon.Baba made the appeal in an interview with some members of the Parliamentary Press Corps, outlining his development agenda, his achievements and challenges of the first six months of his coming into office.

“My main aim is to satisfy the clamour for development, create employment and reduce poverty, which is widespread and the biggest challenge in the Northern part of Ghana. The process of connecting the area to the national grid is very dear to my heart, and I was happy when the poles arrived in the area just a day after my inauguration.

“The contractor is on site; and we are working to make the area very attractive by pursuing an agricultural policy that makes dry season farming attractive to reduce the migration from the North to the South in search of non-existent jobs,” he said.
He mentioned some of the 22 communities, with a population of about 100,000 as Pwalugu, Balungu,Winkogo, Tongo, Sheaga and Tindongo and Duusi, and repeated his position to attend to the needs of the constituents without party colours.

“I’m MP for all; and all the development projects will continue,” Hon.Baba said.
According to the MP, he had ordered six incubators to support a guinea fowl project, of which 8000 birds are to be hatched in a month.

After making a deposit for two tractors which would be ready by next April, the MP assured the constituents that he was making a follow up to get a minimum of 20 tractors to serve the area.
With strong confidence to team up with the people to develop the area, Hon. Baba, who is also former head of the Ghana Prisons Service, and former Chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), dwelt on his experience of being a farmer, who has farms in the Eastern Region of Ghana, and pledged to make agriculture top priority in the area.
“Impossible is nothing,” he said.

Hon.Baba spoke of other social interventions as having procured 400 wellington boots to be distributed to farmers to protect themselves from snake bites during dry season farming, adding that more than 500 people who had taken to dry farming had been supported also with knapsacks for the control of weeds and pests.

The MP gave thanks to Almighty God for coursing the White and Black Volta rivers in the constituency, and promised to take advantage of them to support agriculture.
The former sports administrator said he had procured and distributed 100 footballs to support the Better Talensi Football, of which very attractive prizes would be distributed to the best four teams during a tournament in the next Easter season.

The Talensi Lawmaker recognized that there was a pool of sports talents, especially in long distance running and announced the Better Talensi Cross Country would also take place soon during the Easter celebrations.

On his contribution to the development of education, Hon. Baba said, at least he had supported 105 students at the tertiary level, and quite a few at the senior high school level.
